The health system in 2025: A vision of health and sustainability in England was written as a contribution to the Strategic Review of Health Inequalities in England Post 2010 (The Marmot Review), commissioned in 2009 by the UK Government, which aims to propose an evidence-based strategy for reducing health inequalities. The strategy will include policies and interventions that address the social determinants of health inequalities. The vision presented in this report is  a snapshot of the journey – aiming to present a plausible yet aspirational future where England is on track with its targets on carbon emissions reductions, has shifted the emphasis of the healthcare system towards prevention, and has taken advantage of new health technologies coming on stream.
