The six areas explored in this report—poverty and inequalities, demography, environment, shocks, finance and technology—are fundamentally important to whether the world makes progress in the 2030 Agenda period and far beyond. Some of the trends displayed currently are positive and supportive, including on the reduction of absolute poverty and technological innovation. Yet negative trends in several of the other target areas pose a significant risk to the realization of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
